DEAL DONE | Aeternus and Focus Capital Partners advise on €30M growth financing for MTD Water

Aeternus, together with Irish partner FOCUS Capital Partners, successfully completed the Debt Advisory process for MTD Water. MTD Water is global market leader in temporary water solutions, headquartered in Tilburg. The objective of this process was to raise financing to support MTD Water’s ambitious growth plans. The process consisted of raising €30 million in funding. Thanks to the collaboration with FOCUS Capital Partners within the international M&A Worldwide network, the necessary funds could be raised to enable the intended growth.

The transaction was led by Aeternus with deal team Rob Woodford, Jacques Jetten and Peter Segers with support from FOCUS Capital Partners involving Michael Lalor, Robert Adams, Ruairi McEntee, Jonathan Mawhinney, Chris Redahan and Anthony Maher.

We congratulate MTD’s CFO, Richard van Klinken, who led the transaction for MTD and the wider MTD team involved in the funding process, comprising Hans Verhoeven, Richard van Klinken, Monique Verhoeven, Jan Verhoeven and Caroline Verhoeven.

The €30m senior debt facility was provided by P Capital Partners with Petter Björklén, August Moberg, Hannah Bozorgnia and Luke G. Mooney. Simmons & Simmons acted as a borrower counsel with Ivo van Dijk, Emrecan Karacaoglu, Tim Jansen and Rachel Stanton involved. And Greenberg Traurig, LLP acted as lender counsel with Sabine Schoute, Suzanne Rozing, Monique van den Heuvel van Varik and Aukje Strik involved. BDO provided the Financial Diligence. This was provided by Eline Lip, CFA, Ruben Willems, Tom van Ekerschot and Eldert Elzinga. Many thanks to all involved from Aeternus.

Rob started working at Aeternus BV in May 2017. Before joining Aeternus Rob was employed at ING as a Senior Consultant Acquisition Finance & Structured Lending in Eindhoven. At ING he was responsible for the structuring and execution of complex financing cases in the area of M&A and growth financing for the SME and mid corporate market segment, but also for PE Funds and informal investors.

He earned his bachelor degree in International Business at Tilburg University and furthermore he spent a semester at Trinity College in Dublin as an exchange student. Following an internship at the company, in which he wrote his master thesis, he earned his master degree in Strategic Management and joined CapitalMind Corporate Finance in ’s Hertogenbosch as a Corporate Finance analyst in 2007.

In 2024, Rob achieved the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) accreditation at EACVA in Frankfurt.

Jacques is the founder Aeternus BV, and one of the firm’s partners. Before he founded Aeternus at the end of 2005, Jacques held several management positions in the banking sector and was employed as the CFO of a leading manufacturing company in the metalworking industry. He studied Economics at the University of Tilburg, and was conferred the title of Register Valuator in 2003. A Register Valuator is a financial specialist with a thorough knowledge of and expertise in the field of business valuation. Jacques is also associated with the TIASNimbas business school as a mentor. He advises and mentors future Register Valuators in writing the final valuation report (thesis) that concludes their Master’s degree programme in business valuation.

‘I spend the majority of my time on negotiations, set out the broad lines at the company and check up on the progress of the transactions in which we are involved. I am involved in numerous valuations at a substantive level. Apart form the above, I also handle the intake of new clients and conduct acquisition interviews. All in all, this is a great mix!’
